Phorte

Phorte has been producing since 1994 spanning many different genres of electronic music. Not until 1997 did he start taking drum & bass seriously, being mainly interested in the harder style of the genre. With his completed works, he was asked to perform live PA sets around his home town of Adelaide, Australia, between 1998 till mid 2001 and also appeared on local radio shows and magazines. At this point his studio changed and with it came a new love for a different sound. He started to dwell in the emotions of uplifting trance from Above & Beyond and Armin Van Buuren, the groove of UK garage from MJ Cole and Sunship, and the conjured images of movie scores by Joe Hisaishi and Hans Zimmer. Drawing from these influences, he now strives to create a melodic and atmospheric style of drum & bass in conjunction with fellow Australian producer, Suni, as well as adventures into trance, house and downtempo.

If you have an AAC+ compatible player then the 64k AAC+ option below is almost as good as 128k MP3. As this is the most popular listening option, we have a number of servers around the world. When you tune in we will try to connect you to the closest server to your location where possible - it is best to ensure that you don't have your player in 'Shuffle' mode. If the system is able to get your location then you will see the distance of each server in Winamp's 'Playlist Editor'.

48k MP3 (Mono) This option is intended for people on slow broadband connections that are still unable to get the full 128k stream and are unable to play AAC+ streams. Slightly degraded sound quality.

24k MP3 (Mono) This is for dial up users that are unable to listen to AAC+ streams or cannot keep a steady stream at 32k. This option is only recommended if you are in serious need of beats and can't get a decent quality on the other streams - this should be your last choice. Highly degraded sound quality.

64k AAC+ (Stereo) This is highly recommended as the quality is virtually the same as 128k MP3 at half the bitrate. You will need a compatible player to play AAC+ streams such as Winamp v5.05+ or WMP with the codec plugin.
